Trees, Trees, Trees

There are more than 20 Land and Coastal Care groups working in the Tweed to restore approximately 200 hectares of bushland along creeks and rivers, wetlands, hill tops and coastal dunes.

Some groups meet several times a week while others meet once a month.

Keen to get some dirt on your shirt? All of the Care groups would welcome new volunteers.
Protecting Tweed coast's creeks and creatures

Dolphin Research Australia seeks to protect dolphins, whales and porpoises through research, education and conservation.

Green Heroes cares for underwater flora and fauna, including within Jungarra Ngarrian (Cook Island) aquatic reserve.

The Tweed River OzFish chapter is a vibrant community of anglers dedicated to preserving Tweed River habitats.


Caring for wildlife and species protection

Tweed Valley Wildlife Carers rescue, rehabilitate and release native fauna, while also encouraging habitat conservation.

Friends of the Koala, based in East Lismore, operates a Northern Rivers koala hospital and rescue services.

Team Koala Tweed seeks to protect the remaining koala populations of the Tweed Shire and surrounds.

The Tweed Osprey Group has been monitoring and protecting these amazing raptors since the 1990s.

Caldera Environment Centre runs a store in Murwillumbah, and seeks to influence decision-making to protect Wollumbin Caldera.

Earth Learning Inc focuses on ecological restoration, research and interactive education.

Together Pottsville aims to foster a caring, sustainable and resilient community.

Murwillumbah CORE (Community-Owned Resilience Effort)
formed after the 2022 floods, and focuses on disaster preparedness, communication and sharing lessons. -
Northern Rivers Community Resilience Alliance
supports disaster preparedness and recovery, as well as local connection, across the region.

Enjoying and protecting the Northern Rivers
- Co-Exist Northern Rivers is a community for young adults aged 18-30 to explore, connect with and protect the planet. They host hikes, clean-ups, landcare activities and more.
- Richmond River Koala Parks is campaigning to protect 56,200 hectares of native State Forests across north-east NSW by converting them into national parks.
