Join us in celebrating World Environment Day at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds on Sunday, June 7 from 10am-3pm. Organised by Caldera Environment Centre and Landcare.

10:00 am–10:30am

Welcome Ceremony

Welcome to the festival by MC Sam Refshauge, community leader and Managing Director of community resilience organisation Plan C, and Welcome to Country by respected Elder Uncle Victor Slockee.


10.30 am–11.00 am

Garry Kafoa

Listen and connect with Country through music and storytelling by Uncle Garry Kafoa, local Minjungbal Elder and acoustic musician, as he shares his stories and the importance of our environment.


11.10 am–12pm

Q&A - Joëlle Gergis & Mandy Nolan

Experience a rigorous exchange between award-winning climate scientist & writer, Joëlle Gergis (Humanity's Moment: A Climate Scientist's Case for Hope), and activist Mandy Nolan as they reflect on the Climate, Humanity’s Moment, and the path ahead.

Bring comfy shoes and prepare for an unforgettable, high-energy performances throughout the day by Jerome. A Bluesfest standout, Jerome is celebrated for his percussive acoustic guitar style and electric stage presence.

Strengthening community climate resilience and connection

Join key community leaders from the Regenerative Northern Rivers movement for an engaging panel discussion on community-led climate change resilience in the Northern Rivers.

Aboriginal Use of Plants Uncle Franc Krasna

Join cultural educator Uncle Franc Krasna, elder of the Goodjinburra clan, to learn about how local native plants are used in the Tweed by Aboriginal people and have been for generations.

Weaving tent

Join Minjungbal Tagalaka South Sea Island woman and artist Kyra Togo next to Casino Wake Up Time tent for an opportunity to connect with country as you learn the basics of fibre weaving. Explore basic techniques, engage with natural materials, and create a

unique piece to take home.


Organic Landcare Demos

Learn about chemical free bush regeneration techniques from Organic Landcare.


HooplaKids Circus

Susie & her crew will entertain you with some seriously funky acrobatics & tricks sprinkled

with a touch of humour.


Earth Building Demos

Learn the art of the earth wall building using the earthbag technique with Rebecca Whan

at her stall. A sustainable, environmentally friendly and low-cost building method.


Fire gathering

Gather for fire stick demonstrations by Keith and Marcus from Jagun Alliance.
